mvm_FortFOAM was my first attempt at making a Mann vs Machine gamemode map for Team Fortress 2. I worked on the project for about a week during small amounts of spare time between midterms. The orignal concept was to try to make an MvM-style map that functioned in Medieval mode. In Team Fortress 2, Medieval mode is a gamemode where the players are restricted to their melee weapon, with very few exceptions. After about a day or two, I realized this would not work particularily well because it would restrict the player into a small number of effective play styles.
The map began with the castle, which is heavily based off the castle in the map cp_degrootkeep. From there, I experimented with multiple branching paths into the castle, but soon realized that spread the players too thin and would not allow them to focus on any specific threat at any one time. After scrapping that, I decided on a simple path in. The robots spawn in two locations, between the buildings on the cliff and back in the large barn. They then follow the main path into the castle.
I scrapped the project for two reasons. The first was my growing academic work load. The second was that I realized the layout of the map was too basic and did not have the availability to revamp the entirety. However, I still keep the file and hope that someday I will be able to at least get to a playable form that works properly.
